A custom wood floor is installed unfinished with either engineered or solid hardwood, and then sanded and finished or stained to the clients’ specifications. This process lets the imagination flow. Custom installation can include hand-scraping, distressing, borders, medallions, or patterns of all sorts. Herringbone and chevron patterns can create a one-of-a-kind floor that can’t always be reproduced with prefinished floors. Prefinished hardwood floors can limit the size of the wood planks, color, and finish to what is available in a factory finish.
